Joel Jonathon Wagner was born 11-18-04 and went home with Jesus on 2-15-08. He was our miracle baby since we were not even supposed to be able to have any more kids. .Joel was diagnosed with a rare blood disease known as Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis X at six months old in April of 2005. He began chemotherapy on his nine month birthday on August 18th, 2005. As it was a very mild chemo we were told that we probably would not even notice that he was on chemo- just the side effects from the steroids. But - after six long, grueling days IN the hospital, it was discovered that Joel had been given the wrong chemo and 4+ times the dose that he should have gotten of this other chemo. He had been poisoned on a toxic level. We were hospitalized for about 3+ weeks as one body system after the other shut down, and were taken care of by the prayers of the saints - for healing in his body and nerves, no more errors, and wisdom for the staff in charge of his recuperation.Just before his first birthday he started to have 106 fevers with diarrhea and vomiting. After numerous surgeries and procedures, it was revealed that the hystiocytosis was now in his bone marrow AND - his body attacks his own blood, a disease called HLH, or macrophage activation syndrome. To have both of these diseases is almost unheard of! Thus he stayed alive by receiving many transfusions, chemo, antibiotics, and a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Long road ahead of us, lots of unknowns, lots of difficult side effects. Many life threatening situations. We cling to THE ‘ONE KNOWN’ - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We KNOW that our God is still in control and pray that He gets the Glory through all of this! Even in Joel’s death we seek for God to be glorified -He is
STILL on the Throne.
